The IMC Chairman, Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, who equally doubles as the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Honourable Mukadam Asiru Idris Asiwaju, has described the year 2020 ember months campaign as a good initiative by the Federal Road Safety Commission.

Mukadam, who was ably represented by the Acting Head, Road Taxes, Mr. Kamaldeen Isah, disclosed this at the Ember Launch Campaign, maintaining that it has become an annual event which has helped in no small ways in keeping our roads safe and saving lives. He added that; “without doubt, the most important resources of a nation is its people, Preventing and protecting the loss of lives by its citizen, especially from avoidable circumstances, is a responsibility that has to be taken seriously.

Mukadam further said that; “the task of saving lives is a divine one and we at Kogi State Internal Revenue Service are happy to recognise with you to play a part in ensuring safety on our roads and most especially on our highways. We recognise the unique role we can play as a stakeholder in conjunction with the FRSC in ensuring  sanity on our roads”.

He continued by saying that; “Kogi State, being a transit State that borders many states, experiences huge traffic during this period of the year. This is why this campaign is very significant and necessary.

“One human life is worth more than all the treasures of this world. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all to make sure that accident on our road becomes a rarity instead of the norm. Let us all know that accidents do not just happen, they are caused, and thus, let us all as individuals and regulators ensure due diligence.

“Drivers should ensure that their vehicles are in good shape, and they should avoid overloading, drink-driving, over speeding and avoid night travelling.

“KGIRS Management reiterate their strong desire to play any part in conjunction with FRSC that will ensure safety on our roads and eliminate accidents”.
