The Executive Chairman of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS), Alhaji Sule Salihu Enehe, has assured the Staff of the Service that by the month of April, 2023, they would start enjoying their promotion benefits while urging them to be more committed to their job responsibilities.

Salihu Enehe gave the assurance on Monday, February 13, 2023, when Journalists paid him a congratulatory courtesy visit for his elevation as the substantive Executive Chairman of KGIRS by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of the State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, on February 07, 2023.

He pointed out that in the last six years, staff promotion has remained stagnated in the Service, saying that the desired performance cannot be achieved from the Staffers when their welfare and promotions are not given due consideration.

“There is no way the Staff can put in their best when they are not happy with themselves and with the job they do. The only way you can display your creativity is when you are happy and enjoy a conducive working environment.

“We have created a conducive working environment in all our offices across the State, but it is a fact that, in the last six years, the Staffers of KGIRS remained stagnant on a particular grade level and when God gave me the opportunity through His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello, to become the head of this organisation, I vowed to change the narrative.

“A promotion examination has been carried out and, right now, the oral interview session is ongoing in the Service to enable every staff benefit from the promotion exercise.

“By the special grace of God, by the end of March, 2023, all the exercise would have been concluded and by April 1, 2023, the Staff of KGIRS will start receiving their letters of promotion and the benefits of the promotion will commence immediately”, he assured.

The Chairman disclosed that the Service intends to bring in more persons into the tax net, pointing out that many businesses are yet to be captured, leading to losses of revenue.

He added that with motivation of the Staffers, more commitment is expected from the Staff, assuring that under his leadership, the Service will surpass its 2023 budget.

He commended the Governor for finding him worthy for the confirmation and thanked the Management and Staff for their cooperation and dedication to duty, adding that it will spur the Service to deliver on its mandate.
