The Chairman, KGIRS Interim Management Committee, Honourable Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, has charged the Staff of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service to redouble their efforts on revenue generation.

The IMC Chairman, who doubles as the State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Development, gave the charge during the year 2020 3rd quarter performance review held at the board room of the Service on Tuesday, the 6th of October, 2020.

Honourable Asiwaju, who stated that performance is very key for the assignment at hand, added that after the 2019 audit report of the Service, the State Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, put up the current Committee to carry out the activities of the Service and report on monthly basis to his office.

He noted that the Committee was given the mandate to ensure that there is adequate control put in place at the Service to preserve corporate governance and also ensure progressive contributions to the system by every Staff.

According to him: “There is need to implement one key area of the audit report which is performance review at the end of every quarter. This will enable the Committee to measure the performance of every Staff”.

He further mentioned that the essence of the meeting was to know how best the Service can be managed to get maximum results.

The high point of the review was the recognition of the following Area Tax Managers from the listed Area Tax Offices who distinguished themselves by their reports and were named “Heroes of the 3rd quarter, year 2020” as a result of their outstanding performances. They are, namely:

  1. Ibraheem Abdulazeez, ATM, Lokoja I Area Tax Office (1st position).
  2. Lawal Muhammed Adagu, ATM, Lokoja II Area Tax Office (2nd Position) and
  3. Olumorin Mathew, ATM, Isanlu Area Office. (3rd Position).
